If you've been tasked with hosting a bridal shower, why not think outside the box and host a get together for the bridal party at a spa or salon? An afternoon at a day spa is an ideal way to allow the bridal party to enjoy some much needed downtime together before the big day. Many facilities have special packages available for bridal parties so much of the work has been done for you. By the way, spa get togethers are often available for the groom and his party, too.

The Spa Shower Experience

Depending on the venue, you and your bridal party may have a reserved area set aside within the spa or salon or the run of the entire facility. Your spa shower package may also include light sandwiches and sparkling champagne-based drinks provided by the spa or salon, along with music to set the mood – or you can arrange for your own refreshments and music. Many salons or spas also provide gift bags filled with grooming and wellness for each guest as part of the spa shower package.

During the spa shower, each member of the bridal party can obtain services from one or more stations set up for various beauty, grooming and wellness treatments. For instance, you may opt for a mani-pedi and a makeup consultation, while another bridesmaid may choose hair styling and eyebrow shaping. The bride may choose a relaxing massage and a facial plus body scrub to relax her muscles and clear her complexion of toxins.

Spa Packages for the Groom’s Party

Spa showers are not just for bridal parties. The groom and his party can also book an afternoon at a local day spa or salon featuring finger food and sports on the big screen. The groom can opt for a shave and men’s facial along with a deep tissue massage. The groom’s best buddy can have a manicure to clean up his ragged cuticles – and a waxing treatment to get rid of his unibrow.

Planning the Shower

Consult with the members of the wedding party to collect a list of dates when as many people as possible will be available. Arrange with the spa or salon to have estheticians, hair stylists, manicure specialists, massage therapists, makeup artists or a combination of specialists on hand. If your budget is limited, it’s OK to ask other members of the bridal party to chip in to cover expenses – just not the bride or groom or their parents.

A spa shower allows the members of the bridal party an opportunity to share a bonding experience in a relaxed atmosphere. The men in the groom’s party will also appreciate the opportunity to hang out together. As a bonus, everyone will look great on the big day.
