Toasters and towels and dinnerware, oh my! We’ll be the first to admit, wedding gifts are awesome. What they don’t have to be is boring.

Planning for a wedding is stressful. So stressful, in fact, that there is a television show dedicated to watching what happens when a formally sane couple attempts to plan the perfect day. The results are not always pretty. Okay, okay…they’re never pretty.

Our idea involves changing things up a bit, giving the happy couple a “get-away” gift rather than a shower curtain. Have you thought about how welcome a spa day might be for a couple who is just beginning to come down from the high of being married? We have, and frankly wish someone had thought of it for us when we got married.

Let’s list the advantages of giving the newlyweds a day of spa pampering:

1. It’s a gift we would want to open and as Mother always said, “Give a gift you’d
like to receive.”
2. A spa get-away gift certificate is easy to buy and even easier to wrap.
3. You know they’re not going to have to exchange it for another gift.
4. Your present will be one-of-a-kind.
5. It can be customized. Ask you spa to sell you a gift certificate for a specific
amount and allow the couple to choose the services they will most enjoy.

“But, I’m the one getting married!” you say. Why not just make it easy on yourself and flip the script. You know that you need to find a cool, different gift for each member of your bridal party. How much fun would it be to extend the celebration by giving everyone a spa day? Not only would they be surprised by your thoughtfulness, but you could plan a group event complete with champagne and chocolate.

If you’re not convinced, just think about your bridal party. Aren’t they all busy with work, school, or family obligations? Wouldn’t you love to see them let go of everything and relax for a while? We’re pretty sure that it’s impossible to stay tense while being pampered by well-trained therapists and estheticians.

Besides, it’s yet another opportunity to snag fun wedding photos!

Not that original of an idea. Also they already are spending so much money to stand up in your wedding. Unless you are paying for all the girls standing up and tipping there therapists PROPERLY with a 20% tip- do not suggest a spa day, because inside your friends feel obligated to attend another function to all the dress fittings and rehersals and dinners and life is already busy and money is running LOW.
